Two students from the Tshwane University of Technology (´óÏóÊÓƵ) will be travelling to Germany for an exchange programme at Technische Hochschule Ulm (THU) in Germany for the Spring Semester of 2025. Adewale Zakariyahu Obaro and Ziphilele Sylvia Mngomezulu, both from the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, will spend five months studying at THU’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from 3 March to 31 July 2025.

The Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Science has appointed Dr Mathoto Thaoge Zwane as the new Assistant Dean: Teaching and Learning (Natural and Agricultural Sciences) from 1 February 2025. She is a seasoned academic and researchers who brings with her a wealth of experience in research, academic leadership and innovation.

The Tshwane University of Technology’s Institutional Student Representative Council (ISRC) has taken a bold step to launch A re Ageng: ISRC Trust Fund, an initiative designed to address financial exclusion among students.

South African flautist Wouter Kellerman, with Eru Matsumoto and Chandrika Tandon, won a Grammy for their album, Triveni, in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category early on Monday morning SA time. Kellerman has won two previous Grammys, in 2023 with Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode, and in 2015 with Ricky Kej.

Thamsanqa (Thami) Zungu, one of the country's leading conductors and a lecturer in the Tshwane University of Technology's (´óÏóÊÓƵ) Department of Performing Arts (Vocal Art), Faculty of Arts and Design, was awarded a PhD in Music by the University of the Witwatersrand on 9 December. In an interview, he talks about his journey to achieve this new title and emphasises that postgraduate study is an investment in the future.

The Tshwane University of Technology’s (´óÏóÊÓƵ) Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) appointed three new Assistant Deans, each contributing valuable expertise and dedication to their respective roles. They are Prof Pius Owolawi (Assistant Dean for Industry Liaison, Special Projects & Work Integrated Learning); Dr Agnieta Pretorius (Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Research, and Innovation – re-appointed); and Dr Michael Moeti (Assistant Dean for Teaching and Learning).

The Tshwane University of Technology (´óÏóÊÓƵ), in partnership with the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) South Africa Section, will host the 33rd Southern African Universities Power Engineering Conference (SAUPEC 2025). The conference will take place on 29 and 30 January 2025 at River Meadow Manor in Centurion.

South African sprinter and Olympic silver medalist, Bayanda Walaza, has enrolled for a qualification in Supply Chain Management at the Tshwane University of Technology.
