大象视频 Mbombela Alumni return to inspire postgraduates

A dynamic line-up of Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频) alumni who have made their mark in government, economic development, education, media and civil society, will return to the Mbombela Campus on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, to mentor and inspire the next generation of leaders.

Bringing energy, expertise, and innovation, the Tshwane University of Technology鈥檚 Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FoICT) from the eMalahleni and Soshanguve South campuses lit up the 2025 National Science Week at the bustling Mkhondo Science Centre in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, from 4 to 9 August. The annual Department of Education initiative inspires learners nationwide to explore and embrace the exciting world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Women leaders in the science and engineering fields shared their triumphs, trials and tribulations at a unique celebration that kicked off Women鈥檚 Month at the Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频).

This week marked 41 years since the fateful death of Hendrik Matikweni Nkuna, a student activist who was fatally shot on 14 August 1984, during a protest at the then Technikon Mabopane East, now Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频) Soshanguve South Campus. Nkuna lost his life fighting for academic and financial inclusion of Black students under a system designed to exclude and oppress young people 鈥� many of them coming mainly from townships and rural areas.

Dr Roland Moses, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Performing Arts (Music), Faculty of Arts and Design, and a celebrated performing artist, supported by his Paths of Light quartet, will perform a special concert at Unisa鈥檚 Miriam Makeba Hall on Sunday, 24 August at 16:00. This concert features original compositions and arrangements that embody global artivism 鈥� the creative fusion of art and activism 鈥� using music as a catalyst for awareness, dialogue and positive change.

Themed 鈥�Still We Rise,鈥� the event honoured the resilience, determination and solidarity of women across South Africa and beyond. It focused on the fight against inequality and the growing presence of women in leadership roles, inspiring attendees to embrace self-love, awareness and unity as driving forces for empowerment.
