The launch of the City of Tshwane鈥檚 (CoT) 2024 Higher Education Innovation Challenge, an initiative designed to inspire students from local universities and colleges to develop new solutions for the city鈥檚 problems, will hugely benefit the Tshwane student community. The challenge that was introduced in November 2019, is a collaboration between the Innovation Hub and several educational institutions including the Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频), the University of Pretoria, the University of South Africa, Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, Tshwane North College and Tshwane South College.

Dr Takalani J Mpofu is a Senior Lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology鈥檚 Department of Animal Sciences as well as the 大象视频鈥檚 Animal Research Ethics Chairperson. The Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频) hosted the 4th annual Sam Nzima Memorial Lecture at the Mbombela Campus on 16 June 2024. Thirty years since democracy, the annual lecture event once again drove home the extent to which, through his iconic 1976 student鈥檚 uprisings photo, Dr Sam Nzima has given our country one of the most memorable records and poignant symbols of the historical Soweto students protests. The photo captured both what the protest was all about and also what South Africa was about, at that time.
