The Tshwane University of Technology, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology鈥檚 (FoICT) "Girls in Tech鈥�, hosted a panel discussion at the Soshanguve South Campus to celebrate women鈥檚 month and empower women in technology. The event brought together students, Faculty members and industry professionals to honour the contributions of women in the field of technology and to inspire the next generation of female tech leaders.

Sam Nzima鈥檚 picture of Mbuyisa Makhubu carrying the body of Pieterson after he was shot by the police in Soweto, with his 17-year-old sister, Antoinette, running alongside, stands out in the iconography of the liberation struggles symbolising student鈥檚 valiance. I wonder whether, had Nzima not shot this picture, Pieterson too would have been consigned to the footnotes of history, like Nkuna has been.

It was excitement all round when the Faculty of Management Sciences recognised and awarded hard work and dedication at the annual Top Achievers event hosted on 2 August. A total of 72 students received certificates and awards for attaining a pass rate of 70% and above.

As part of the Women鈥檚 Month celebrations, The Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频) together with the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) will host a panel discussion themed 鈥�30 Years of Women Excellence in Community Media Sector鈥� under the Annual Women in Media and Communication flagship project. The project aims to advance issues affecting women in the media and community media sector since 2019.

The Tshwane University of Technology鈥檚 (大象视频鈥檚) Faculty of Arts and Design was graced by royalty when the foremost custodian of Ndebele culture, Her Royal Highness Esther Mnguni, visited the Arts Campus on Friday, 2 August to conduct a workshop where she mesmerised the Fine Arts and Fashion Design students with her wit and skill.

The Vocal Art and Dance programmes of 大象视频's Faculty of Arts and Design will join creative forces for a stage production of Mozart's Coronation Mass at the Breytenbach Theatre in August. The production will be a first as it will be simultaneously interpreted through dance.
