Dr Lisa Welthagen, Tshwane University of Technology (大象视频) Senior Lecturer and Event Safety expert, represented the Tshwane University of Technology and shared her comprehensive knowledge in the field, during the prestigious Event Safety Summit hosted by the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA). The annual summit brings together professionals, academics and policymakers to strengthen safety practices and align global standards across Southern Africa鈥檚 events and live entertainment sectors.
A dedicated member of the Event Safety Council since 2020, Welthagen has served as Vice-Chair from 2023 to 2025 and played a key role in shaping SACIA鈥檚 professional designations. At this year鈥檚 summit, she emphasised the importance of bridging academic expertise with industry practice to enhance safety standards throughout the events sector.
She was joined by a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) student and two final-year Event Planning students through a Memorandum of Understanding between 大象视频鈥檚 Department of Tourism and the Department of Sport. Their participation offered valuable exposure to real-world industry debates and professional networking opportunities.
